Lost in the Magic of Festivals: How Mesh Nodes Help You Find Your Friends
Lost at Fusion Festival? Discover how mesh nodes help you stay lightly connected, find your friends off-grid, and enjoy the festival without relying on mobile networks.

It was late evening at the Fusion Festival in Berlin. The old airfield had transformed into a living, breathing city of music and art. Basslines rolled across the fields, lasers painted the night sky, and everywhere you looked there were glowing sculptures, spontaneous dance circles and people moving together like one giant wave.
Fusion isn’t just a festival — it’s a temporary utopia. For a few days, you step out of your daily life and into a parallel world where exploration is the only rule. You follow the sound of a distant beat, stumble into a secret theater, or get pulled into a sunrise jam session you’ll never forget.
That’s exactly what happened to me. I drifted away from my friends, pulled towards a smaller stage hidden behind the trees. The music was hypnotic, the crowd electric, and to be honest, I wasn’t completely sober. Hours passed like minutes. When I finally looked around, my friends were gone.
Normally no problem. Send a text, drop a pin, find them in minutes. But not at Fusion. With more than 70,000 people dancing across the grounds, the mobile network had completely collapsed. My phone showed “sending…” and nothing else. Suddenly, in a city that never sleeps, I was completely alone.
For a while, I let it be. Getting lost is part of Fusion’s charm. You meet strangers, you discover corners you’d never find otherwise. But after a while, I wanted to reconnect. To share a dance at the Turmbühne, to watch the sunrise together over the airfield.
That’s when I remembered: we had brought mesh nodes.
I opened the app, tapped out a short message, and watched as it silently jumped from node to node until it reached my crew. A minute later, the reply lit up my screen: “Left side of Turmbühne. Hurry, sunrise is coming.”
Just like that, I was back. Dancing with my friends as the first light painted the horizon pink, I realized something: this little device had given me the best of both worlds.
The Perfect Balance
Fusion is beautiful because it cuts you off from the constant noise of the outside world. No social feeds, no endless notifications. You’re present, fully immersed in the moment. And that’s how it should be.
But sometimes, you need to reconnect. Not with the whole internet — just with your people. To share the sunrise, to regroup at camp, to not lose each other in the chaos.
Mesh nodes make that possible. They don’t suck you back into your phone. They don’t flood you with distractions. They keep it simple and intentional: just your crew, just the messages and locations you need. Enough to find each other, without ever breaking the magic.
Beyond Fusion
Fusion was where I first truly felt the power of mesh nodes, but they’re just as useful anywhere networks fail. Massive festivals where signals collapse. Long bike tours where groups spread out. Hikes deep in the mountains. Even emergencies, when communication is everything.
Wherever the signal ends, mesh nodes keep you together.
Take Them With You
Fusion taught me that connection doesn’t have to mean distraction. With the right tools, you can lose yourself in the music, the lights, the dust — and still find your way back to the people you love.
That’s what mesh nodes give you.
Stay free. Stay connected. Stay in the moment.
